About Us

We began our love affair with Newfoundland in 1983 when we acquired our first newfie. She was supposed to be show quality, but we found out the hard way that she was not along with her many health problems. However, we learned so much by learning it the hard way. We decided early on that if we were ever to breed that health, soundness, temperament and type were all to be very very important to us with no exceptions to any of them.

We are a small hobby kennel located 18 miles from Duluth, MN on 22 wooded acres with the Cloquet National Forest just behind us and a small spring fed lake across the road from us. There is lots of fenced area for our newfies to get their needed exercise every day and they enjoy lying around the house in the evening. We are devoted to producing quality newfies for show, working and companions.

All of our adult newfies are x-rayed for hips and elbows and submitted to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals as well as being cardiologist cleared as puppies and adults, DNA tested for cystinuria, eyes cleared by an ophthalmologist and all puppies having their heart checked by a cardiologist prior to adoption. As more health clearances become available we will be a part of them.

Through the years we have shown our newfies in the breed ring, and have also completed tracking, draft and obedience titles with some of them. Nancy has been a member of the Newfoundland Club of America since 1984, a charter member of the Northstar Newfoundland Club and an active member of the Duluth Kennel Club.
